Back driving again on local work. Enjoying life and being a little bit like a normal person. I've even taken to washing my cars on a Sunday and everything. I have a 71 plate Volvo with a flatbed , but I do cover tippers and in the future, block hiab too. Feeling happy.
I was born into transport from day 1. My Grandfather, Father and Uncle were all drivers. I was brought up Old Skool way, 7.5 ton, 6 wheeler and eventually artic. I have now been driving some 35 years, 32 as a tramper. Unlike my Father and Grandfather, I had to go better and further. Europe and Eastern Europe was pulling me in. After a few years roping and sheeting etc I picked up a tilt and headed into mainline Europe.
Although I still enjoy driving locally, I do feel unsettled and have been jumping from job to job lately. At 61 nearly, I feel old and can't wait to retire.
Here is to the future

All loaded for Monday, 3 loads to do. Penzance, reload and tip Redruth, then reload for Bodmin. Top and then reload for Tuesday. This is a normal kind of day for us at Maen Karne. Bit of Old Skool flatbed and net drops with 18 straps at a time. Not able to use rope anymore as they are not weight rated. Pretty pleased about that haha. I did it back in the day.
